Amakusa Gokyo (Five Bridges)

The bridges to connect Kyusyu mainland and Amaksa Islands was completed in 1966. Misumi-machi and islands of Amakusa including Oyano-jima, Nagaura-jima, Oike-jima, Mae-jima, and Amakusa kami-sima are connected all together by five bridges. The First Bridge, or Tenmon-kyo connects Misumi to Oyano-jima Island, and the highest bridge among five bridges.:Type of truss.

The Second Bridge, or Oyano Bridge connects Oyano-jima Island to Nagaura-jima Island, and beige arch is the distinctive feature of the bridge. :Type of Langer truss.

The Third bridge, or Nakano-hashi connects Nagaura-jima Island to Oike-jima Island. : Type of PC rigid frame.

The Fourth Bridge, or Maejima Bridge connects Oike-jima Island to Mae-jima islands, and the longest bridge; 510m long,among five bridges. :Type of PC rigid frame.The Fifth Bridge, or Matsushima Bridge is the red bridge that connects Mae-jima and Amakusa Kami-shima. :Type of Pipe Arch.
